Fertility Enhancing Surgeries

Fertility enhancing surgeries encompass a range of procedures aimed at addressing specific anatomical or physiological issues that may be hindering natural conception or the success of assisted reproductive technologies. Here are some common fertility enhancing surgeries:

Tubal Surgery :

Procedure : Tubal surgeries are performed to correct abnormalities or blockages in the fallopian tubes. Procedures include tubal reanastomosis (reconnecting the fallopian tubes after a previous sterilization), tubal cannulation (clearing blockages with a catheter), or salpingectomy (removal of damaged portions of the fallopian tubes).

Indications: Tubal surgeries are often recommended for women with tubal factor infertility, where the fallopian tubes are partially or completely blocked, preventing the egg and sperm from meeting.

Laparoscopic Surgery :

Procedure: Laparoscopic surgery involves making small incisions in the abdomen and inserting a camera (laparoscope) to visualize and treat conditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts, or pelvic adhesions.

Indications: Laparoscopic surgery can improve fertility by removing endometriosis lesions, ovarian cysts, or scar tissue (adhesions) that may interfere with normal reproductive function.

Hysteroscopic Surgery :

Procedure: Hysteroscopic surgery is performed using a thin, lighted tube (hysteroscope) inserted through the cervix into the uterus. It can remove uterine polyps, and fibroids, or correct the uterine septum (a wall of tissue dividing the uterus).

Indications: This surgery can improve fertility by eliminating anatomical abnormalities within the uterus that may hinder implantation or pregnancy.

Fertility Preservation Surgeries :

Procedure: Surgeries like ovarian transposition (moving the ovaries away from radiation therapy fields), ovarian tissue cryopreservation (freezing ovarian tissue for later use), or cervical cerclage (stitching the cervix closed to prevent premature birth) are performed to preserve fertility in cases of medical treatments or conditions that may affect fertility.

Indications: These surgeries are recommended for individuals facing cancer treatment, certain medical conditions, or procedures that could potentially compromise fertility.
